Client Testimonials
John McLaughlin, customer since 1996 - I've been a customer of Al's since 1996. All I can say is, I haven't waited to get a haircut since 1996 (I was a Supercuts customer for years and years). For me, the nicest thing is calling Al up, coming over at a set time, and knowing I will get my hair cut then and there. Of course, it goes without saying that it's a great haircut. The really nice thing about having your own personal barber is that he gets to know you, gets to know how you like your hair cut, and remembers it from one visit to the next.
Al gives a great haircut, always entertains, knows me, he knows how I want my haircut, and it is easier than any other relationship you could ever have with a hair salon, hair stylist, chain, or wife.
Luis Perna, customer since the 80s - I started getting haircuts at the Studio back in the late 70's due to its convenient location here in the Westshore area. Al started cutting my hairwell over 10 years ago(cant remember much further than that) and I have neverhad a bad haircut in all that time, even when being told numerous jokes and both of us laughing our bellies off(usually contstantly). Al always has the best jokes and is willing to listen to new ones, additionally he will listen to any real life story you may have or be going thru and give his well balanced perspective on the subject, and mind you, at no extra cost for the therapy or counseling components. I highly recommend Al and hope to God he never retires as I wont trust my balding head to anyone else cause then I'll look like one of them balding scraggly long hair hippies with a beer belly just cause Al decided to sit by the pool at Sun City Center.
Ron Roberts, customer since 1994 - I suppose that the best testimonial I can give for Al is that in all of Texas I haven't found anyone who can wield scissors and produce the same results as Al the barber! That's right, since my transfer from Tampa to Austin over 4 years ago, most every time I get to town, Al has me in the chair! And he's had to straighten out some Texas-sized hair problems which resulted from those few occasions when I've had to visit some second rate barber here in the Lone Star State!
Jim Lillard, customer since 1978 - During the drive home for summer vacation from Florida State University, my roommate recommended that I secure a decent haircut prior to confronting my parents at their home in Tampa. If I was going to announce the dismal grade point average I had achieved in my sophomore year, I should at the very least look good. That was my first appointment with Al the Barber, circa 1978.
Over the next several years, my most vivid memory of Studio was the vast amount of gray hair that lay about the floor in small horizontal stacks, and musing that a more aggressive hair stylist might have perhaps recommended a color solution for his old clients.
In 1980 I landed my first real job offer, and though I do not recall the specifics, I am sure the interview included a crisp "over the ear but not too much off the back" hairstyle. The job has lasted twenty years, the haircut, about two months.
In 1986 I prepared for my wedding day with a few
stiff drinks and a much needed hair styling. Al warned me of the
impending danger, recited a couple of jokes that could be told to the
in-laws and threw in a new mousse product for good luck. The
marriage has lasted for fourteen years, the haircut,
about two months.
In 1992 Al listened to the gruesome details from the birth of my second child. We laughed about my wife's excruciating pain, exchanged some blonde jokes and commented on how his haircut made it look like I was developing a bald spot. The children continue to grow, as does the bald spot.
It has been twenty-two years since my first visit with Al, and he has remained my one and only hair stylist. My latest memory revolves around last month's appointment, where I noticed the vast amount of brown hair that lay about the floor in small horizontal stacks, and that I am now the old client that needs the recommendation for a good color solution.
