Does a Barber need a website? If
you're Al the Barber, you do. Al Timmons, proprietor of Studio of Hair
Design in the Westshore Business District, has been cutting hair,
authoring his own Trivia, telling jokes, and entertaining his clientele
for over 23 years.
His reach expanded into the airwaves a few years ago, when Al started hosting a Trivia Contest on the Radio (Currently, you can hear Al on Tuesday mornings on U92 FM, 92.5 FM in Tampa). Al's new web site, http://www.althebarber.com is an extension of Al himself. Al's customers have come to expect Movie Reviews, Trivia, Jokes, Puzzles, and old-fashioned Barbershop conversations from Al, and the web site extends Al's reach to the entire Internet. Is Al the only Barber/Movie Reviewer on the Internet? Possibly so! Perhaps the best indication of Al's entertainment value (and haircutting prowess) are his fiercely loyal clients. Client Ron Roberts, moved to Austin, Texas, but still gets his haircuts only from Al, while Luis Perna jokingly appreciates the "no cost therapy" that he gets from a visit to Al. Is it unique for a Barber to have a Website? Or are companies today simply expected to have a web site? Al, along with one of his clients and four other graduate students at USF, decided that it was time for Al the Barber to be on the Internet. Al is an entertaining and engaging conversationalist, always happy to be interviewed and to share some of his entertaining anecdotes.
